  • Coral Island

    Koh Larn, 45 minutes offshore, with clearer water than the town beaches and half a dozen bays to choose between.

    Good to know · The public ferry costs a fraction of a speedboat transfer and takes about 45 minutes. Take cash; card machines are rare.

  • The carved teak spires of the Sanctuary of Truth on the shore at Pattaya

    Sanctuary of Truth

    A vast teak temple on the shore, carved entirely without nails, and still unfinished after four decades of work.

    Good to know · Hard hats are issued because carving continues overhead. Covered shoulders and knees, as at any temple.
