Sao Beach
The island's best stretch of sand, white and genuinely fine, on the quieter south-east coast.
Good to know · Calmest between November and March. The south-west monsoon churns it up from June onwards.
Hon Thom cable car
Nearly eight kilometres over open sea to Pineapple Island — the longest sea-crossing cable car in the world, and the ride is the attraction.
Good to know · Sit on the right going out for the fishing fleet below. It closes in high wind, so build in a spare day if it matters to you.
The night market at Duong Dong
Grilled seafood picked from the tank, plus pepper and fish sauce from the island's own farms.
Good to know · Phu Quoc pepper is the thing to bring home. Vegetarians will find the market hard going — eat before, then browse.
